Southeast Technical College was founded in 1965. The Sioux Falls School District owns the current campus, which is approximately 168 acres in size. The student body, which started with a modest number, has grown to approximately 3200 and continues to expand. STC's campus currently contains seven major building areas including On-Campus Housing.
The Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office provides two security officers responsible for the Patrol Division Commander or their designee. The STC Security Officers perform a wide range of security work and maintain order within the Southeast Technical School and Campus. Their duties include security and resource protection, critical incident planning, suppression of disorder, arrest of law violators, prevention of vandalism and theft, searches of persons and property with jurisdictional limitations, and other duties as assigned to ensure the safety and security of the campus community.
In 2026 the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office relationship with Southeast Technical College remains strong and continues to be a positive partnership. We maintain a consistent presence on campus and work closely with college leadership to support campus safety and contribute to a secure learning environment.
